Brixtoner Vital in table grapes: more color, more sweetness and an earlier harvest

22/03/2026 – Applied research –

Bringing the harvest date forward without sacrificing fruit quality is one of the great challenges for grape growers. A trial in Krissy table grapes shows that Brixtoner Vital not only makes this possible, but also significantly improves soluble solids content and color uniformity across the bunches.

The results are clear: sweeter fruit, more uniform in color and harvested earlier. Three competitive advantages in a single solution.

The trial: methodology and context

The trial evaluated the effect of three applications of Brixtoner Vital on color development, soluble solids content and harvest earliness in Krissy table grapes. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was used, monitoring 25 bunches per treatment from the first application to the first harvest pass.

The control treatment followed standard management without a biostimulant.

72% of bunches at full color vs. 44% control+7.1% more ºBrix than the control76.3% harvested in the 1st pass vs. 69.4%

Results: three measurable improvements

1. Faster, more uniform color development

At harvest date, 72% of treated bunches had reached “full color”, compared with only 44% of the control — a statistically significant difference (Pearson’s chi-square, p<0.05).

Coverage of the full fruit load was 95.5% with Brixtoner Vital versus 86.1% in the control — almost 10 percentage points, statistically significant (ANOVA, p<0.05).

2. Earlier, more efficient harvest

In the first pass, 76.3% of treated bunches were picked versus 69.4% of the control. That 6.9-point difference means fewer picking days, lower operating costs and an earlier market window.

3. Higher soluble solids content (ºBrix)

Treated bunches recorded 21.05 ºBrix versus 19.65 ºBrix in the control — a statistically significant +7.1% (ANOVA, p<0.05). Higher ºBrix means greater sweetness perceived by consumers and higher commercial value.

Brixtoner Vital brought the harvest forward, improved color uniformity and increased fruit sweetness by 7.1%. Three key quality and profitability indicators improved in a single cycle.

Why Brixtoner Vital works

Brixtoner Vital is a biostimulant formulated specifically for the ripening stage of fruit trees and vines. Its composition includes:

Soluble phosphorus (12% P2O5), key to mobilizing sugars and accumulating them in the fruit.

Amino acids and polysaccharides, which act as metabolic activators in the final ripening stage.

Magnesium, zinc and boron, involved in pigment synthesis, color quality and photosynthetic efficiency.

The combination of these components speeds up the physiological ripening processes, supports color uniformity and enhances sugar concentration, without altering firmness or post-harvest life.

Applicable beyond grapes

Brixtoner Vital is designed for use on any fruit tree or vine during the ripening stage. It is especially useful where color uniformity, sugar content or harvest earliness are commercially critical parameters: cherries, plums, peaches, pears or citrus, among others.
