RETO’S: innovation for more efficient agriculture that is resilient to water stress

04/06/2026 – News

Water scarcity is one of the great challenges facing agriculture today. Improving water efficiency requires not only optimising irrigation systems, but also enhancing the ability of plants to absorb, retain and make use of the water available, especially under drought conditions.

Factors such as root development, balanced nutrition, soil biological activity and osmotic adjustment mechanisms play a key role in how crops respond to water stress. In this context, research and the development of new agronomic solutions are essential to move towards a more sustainable and resilient agriculture.

RETO’S: a project to optimise water use

With this aim, RETO’S was born: an experimental research and development project focused on developing an innovative treatment that combines osmoprotectant and water-retaining products to optimise efficient water use in crops under water stress.

The initiative seeks to contribute to the development of solutions that help crops better cope with water-scarcity conditions, reinforcing the commitment to innovation and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Commitment to research and sustainability

The RETO’S project is supported by European Funds, through the Business Agency for Transformation and Economic Development (TRADE), under the grants for industrial research and experimental development projects in Andalusia.

This support drives the development of new technological solutions aimed at meeting the challenges of the agricultural sector and moving towards a more efficient use of water resources.

At RETO’S we remain committed to research, innovation and sustainability as pillars for contributing to a more efficient, resilient agriculture that is ready to face the climate challenges of the future.
