Vellsam strengthens its commitment to agricultural training with the launch of its “Academy”
Vellsam Academy brought together growers, cooperatives and technicians around science applied to plant nutrition and bioprotection
Vellsam Materias Bioactivas has launched a new training initiative focused on knowledge transfer in the agricultural sector, Vellsam Academy, held at the multinational’s facilities in Tabernas (Almería), which brought together growers, cooperatives and technicians around science applied to plant nutrition and bioprotection.
The event included a tour of the facilities and a series of talks on topics such as soil health and applied microbiology, given by the Iberia Area Sales Manager, Fernando Castilla, and by members of the Microbiology and Technical-Experimental departments, David Castro and Nerea Vargas, respectively.
One of these talks focused on organic matter in agricultural soils, its main components and its dynamics in the field, presenting the physical, chemical and biological benefits it brings to soil stability, higher productivity and water and nutrient retention capacity.
With this first session, Vellsam Academy aims to become a regular meeting point between research and the field, with the goal of bringing scientific knowledge closer to industry professionals, reinforcing its role as a key link in taking innovation to the field and equipping them with evidence-based tools and knowledge, thus contributing to increasingly efficient, sustainable and innovative agriculture.
As part of this training work, it is worth recalling that Vellsam has promoted other initiatives in recent months, such as Plant Health Academy, held last February together with the University of Almería. On that occasion, the focus was on giving participants practical tools to manage and improve all the factors that influence turf health in professional settings, from seed selection to water resource management and the proper use of machinery.
