Vellsam Materias Bioactivas welcomes the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegria, at its facilities.

The CEOs of the multinational, María Zamora and Francisco Castillo, show him the factory and laboratories where they develop their biotechnological solutions for the development of sustainable agriculture.

The Minister met the research chairs developed by Vellsam with the University of Granada, as well as the company’s employees from Vocational Training.

Vellsam Materias Bioactivas has received this Friday the visit of the Minister of Education and Vocational Training of the Spanish Government, Pilar Alegria, who has visited the facilities of the company based in Tabernas (Almeria). Inés Plaza, Senator for Almería, the Government Delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, the Andalusian parliamentarian Juan Antonio Lorenzo, the candidate for Almería to the Congress of Deputies, Antonio Hernando and the Mayor of Tabernas, José Díaz, among others, were present during the visit.

At the beginning of the visit, the CEOs of Vellsam Materias Bioactivas, María Zamora and Francisco Castillo, were able to show the Minister the laboratories for the research of microorganisms and the physicochemical laboratory for the formulation and development of new fertilizers and biostimulants to maintain the physiological state of the plant at a nutritional level.

During the visit, María Zamora and Francisco Castillo also explained to the Minister the different research chairs that Vellsam has signed with the University of Granada: the most recent one, on the health effects of the use of biotechnological products in tomato cultivation, and the two previous ones, for research against cancer stem cells, one, and innovation in nutrition and health, another one.

Pilar Alegría was also able to talk to several of the company’s workers from the Vocational Training program, who explained their motivations for undertaking this branch of training, as well as the work they are currently doing in the company.

In terms of education, Vellsam has been receiving for years in its facilities different educational centers from the province of Almeria, which come to its headquarters to learn more about the work carried out in the company, a reference in the development of biotechnological solutions that improve the performance and production of crops around the world.

Once the visit was over, the Minister left a souvenir of her visit by signing the company’s book of honor, highlighting that: “thanks to their good work they have built a leading biotechnology company, nurtured by important innovative projects that have enabled its expansion in many countries around the world”, and stating that “it is a real honor to have companies like this in our country”.

For her part, the CEO of Vellsam, María Zamora, thanked Pilar Alegría for her visit: “It is a great honor for us to welcome the Minister of Education to our facilities and for her to get to know our work and a team of which we are immensely proud”.
